The centenary edition of Greece's biggest trade fair — honoured country Japan — turns the Helexpo grounds into a national stage: exhibitions by day, big-name concerts every night, the PM's annual keynote. The city buzzes (and books out).

61st Dimitria Festival

Founded in 1966 and echoing the city's Byzantine trade fairs, Dimitria fills October with theatre, dance, music and visual arts across historic venues — leading to the feast of the patron saint (26 Oct), a local holiday.

67th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Southeast Europe's premier film event: premieres at the Olympion on Aristotelous, all-night screenings in the port warehouses, and a city that talks cinema for eleven days. Its Documentary sibling runs each March.
